What is the difference between National and QLD RSA Courses?

The Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) has determined that training in accordance with the Nationally Accredited Unit of Competency is not acceptable for persons working in licensed venues in Queensland. OLGR approved Responsible Service of Alcohol courses are required to include specific information about penalties and provisions that apply in Queensland for various offences against the Liquor Act. Online RSA courses are also required to include some video content showing role play situations relating to refusal of service and assisting intoxicated persons. These are intended to show examples of real life situations that could be found in a licensed venue.

Persons who have completed Nationally accredited training can complete a short bridging course which when coupled with the Nationally Recognised unit of competency training meets these requirements for the issue of an OLGR Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.

NSW, VIC and TAS also have specific requirements for RSA courses and all require face-to-face training in most instances. You can find further information about specific state requirements for RSA courses on this site.

RSA courses are one of the strategies used to manage the risks associated with the service and consumption of alcohol. RSA training provides people who are involved in the service of alcohol with skills and knowledge to provide customers with information about alcohol and its effects, assist them in consuming alcohol responsibly and an awareness of the legal issues and penalties involved when alcohol is not served responsibly.

The Australian Online College delivers RSA Certificate training online 24/7 throughout Australia. Our course is Nationally Recognised and and approved by the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, it can be completed in around 4 hours. At the conclusion of the course you can download your Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB009A - Responsible Service of Alcohol and you Queensland OLGR Certificate and be ready for work. You can find more information on our Online RSA Certificate Course
