This requirement means anyone within the business or community group involved in any activity that involves food, or surfaces likely to come into contact with food, must know how to keep the food safe from contamination.
In Victoria Food Handlers are not required to undertake any specific training but there is a general obligation under the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) that everyone involved in the production, preparation, handling and transport of food be trained to a level commensurate with their responsibilites. Most councils recognise completion of SITXOHS001A - Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures as meeting the FSANZ requirements for food handler training.
